In April 2010, we were able to purchase our own kennels thanks to a generous gift left to the charity by Mr David Davies in his passing. Owning our own kennels has enabled us to provide the highest quality of care for the dogs who are currently looking for their forever home.
We have a team of dedicated kennel staff who work tirelessly to look after the dogs; walking, bathing, monitoring their health as well as giving them much needed love and affection. We are also lucky to have a valued team of volunteers who give their time to walk the dogs every day ensuring they get regular exercise and a chance to take in the lovely fields around the kennels. We are fortunate to have lots of open fields around the kennels which can be enjoyed by the dogs as well as provide the charity with space to host fundraising events.
We also have a number of small stables which have been converted into larger kennels for our long term dogs providing them with space and a warm and comfortable home as part of the Forest Dog Rescue family.
Our team of volunteers, as well as our very own Trustees, have spent many hours refurbishing the kennels; painting and cleaning, to bring them up to the high standard that they are today. However, we still need more kennel space if we are to be able to provide a safe haven and the chance of a loving new home to the many dogs who are still waiting to come into rescue. We need to raise a significant amount of money to enable us to build new kennels and we will be launching a dedicated campaign later in the year.
If you are interested in meeting any of the dogs then please contact the kennels on 01299 269 181. We will arrange for you to meet your potential new family member and also take them for a lovely walk around the centre.
